Domaine de Labarthe — Organic Gaillac Winemakers Since 1550

Set in the heart of the Gaillac appellation in South-West France, Domaine de Labarthe is a family vineyard passed down through generations since 1550. Today the 15th generation continues this unique winegrowing tradition in the Tarn department, in Occitanie.

An Exceptional Terroir

Our vines thrive on the clay-limestone hillsides of Gaillac, benefiting from an ideal climate at the meeting point of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. This singular terroir allows us to grow grape varieties emblematic of South-West France: Braucol (also known as Fer Servadou), Duras, Mauzac and Loin de l'Œil.

Certified Organic Farming

Domaine de Labarthe is certified organic (Agriculture Biologique). We work the vines with respect for the environment, using sustainable practices: natural cover crops, compost, and treatments based only on copper and sulphur.

since 1550

The Albert family has owned the Domaine de Labarthe since 1550 , as authentic documents in the name of Guillaume Albert attest. The story accelerated from the 1920s with the first direct sales : Camille sold his Mauzac "bourrus" in Paris. Then, in the 1950s, René took over by marketing the first bottles of wine.

20 years later, Paulette and Jean developed the estate and gave it its letters of nobility . In 1983, they were taken over by their son Jean-Paul who created the current range of wines.

Today, Jean-Paul and his son Thibault cultivate the 60 hectares of vines , planted with typical Gaillac grape varieties. Concerned about respecting the environment and the natural expression of the terroir, they produce all of their certified organic production.

Unique Know-How

With Organic Agriculture , we respect the life of the soil, animal and plant species.

Our goal: to promote the ecosystem of our lands and produce the most natural and expressive wines possible!

It is demanding work: we make our own compost from local animal manure and sow green manures to improve our soils. Today, the results are there! Our vines express their natural vitality and produce grapes with complex and subtle aromas , the quintessence of our terroir . These are the conditions that allow us to obtain a healthy, quality harvest , for the organic vinification of our different vintages .

Let yourself be seduced by our wines , recognized as much for their taste qualities as for their natural properties !
